ABOUT MCM: MOVIE CAMERA MOVEMENT

THE FASTEST GROWING R.S.O. ON CAMPUS

Our Story:

MCM: Movie Camera Movement is a student-run film production organization at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) that focuses on producing creative narrative films. We strive to create an environment that promotes a high quality of work from students outside of a classroom environment, producing eight short films each academic year. Our main goal is to help promote a professional work ethic that will continue after graduation and have a positive impact on our MCM Alumni’s chances of being successful within the film and media industries.

Our organization was created in November 2010 by a small group of students who have now graduated and continued to pursue their careers. Despite its humble beginnings, MCM has quickly grown into one of the largest, strongest, and most passionate R.S.O’s on campus in regards to film and media making with over 70 active members. We strive to provide real world work experience during each film’s levels of production, and  we stage several workshops throughout the academic year that focus on camera work, lighting techniques, editing basics, and more. At the end of each school year, MCM holds an annual Red Carpet Premiere where the films are screened for the public and awards are given to our members.
