MCM hosts its very own MCM 48-Hour Film Festival each year where three teams of filmmakers are tasked with completing an entire production in just that amount of time. The teams are given nothing but a genre, line of dialogue, a prop, and a character’s name and occupation in which all must be incorporated into their screenplays.

After the teams allocate their roles and responsibilities to their members, they must write, shoot, and edit their entire films before the clock runs out. After which, these films are judged and awarded by SIU Mass Communications professors for their skill and ability to blend all of these elements together all the while making a thoughtful and cohesive story.
